Inman Park Aesthetic Blend

This kitchen had some interesting features, but the design was not coherent, functional, or modern. The abundance of rustic wood resulted in a dark , cave-like space.

The new kitchen is a blend of pleasing contrasts: modern appliances and antique accents, warm natural wood and cool white cabinets, light and dark. Yet these diverse individual elements create a unified whole that is multi-faceted and visually compelling. The result is bright, welcoming ,and very chef friendly.

To optimize functionality, the homeowners wanted an island in their new kitchen. Rather than just a utilitarian piece, this island is also an eye-catching design element. The green cabinet contrasts, yet complements, the other colors of the room. The true showstopper is the 3” thick island top. We custom milled and created this from reclaimed heart of pine beams, with bread-board-style joinery adding a sense of history

We re-used the original uppers by flanking the window with them, adding wine racks and lower cabinetry, and tying them together with a window seat. The effect is that of an antique hutch that was built into the home.
